Deoxidized copper is the standard material for transferring heat from steam to water or air because of its excellent resistance to corrosion by fresh water and high thermal conductivity. After extensive testing, copper became a registered material in the U.S. for protecting heating and air conditioning equipment surfaces against bacteria, mold, and mildew.
