It was a $10,000 loan from the U.S. government that led to the original Revere copper rolling mill, whose initial role was to serve the U.S. Naval fleet, starting with the USS Constitution. Our government – then under President John Adams – valued the importance of domestic manufacturing as a crucial component of national security.
Today, the employee-owned Revere Copper Products, Inc. actively serves industrial markets including architecture, telecommunications, industrial machinery, power distribution, electrical, HVAC and national defense, with more than 1,000,000 square feet of manufacturing space in Rome, NY and Mebane, NC. One of our goals is for the entire copper supply chain to prosper and employ people with good wages and the ability to retire with dignity.
Not only was Revere America’s first copper rolling mill, the company now stands as the last remaining copper mill with private U.S. ownership.
When the future of the company founded by Paul Revere more than 225 years ago was at risk, the O’Shaughnessy family stepped in to fight for its survival. Their efforts did more than preserve a historic American manufacturer – they helped safeguard jobs and protect the economic heartbeat of their now hometown of Rome, New York.
